LAVIELLE RECEIVES KEY BUSINESS ENDORSEMENTS

WILTON, Oct. 24 -- State Representative Gail Lavielle (R-143) has received key endorsements from the business community in her candidacy for re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives, where she represents constituents in Norwalk, Westport, and Wilton.

The business organizations endorsing Rep. Lavielle are the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA), the Connecticut REALTORS®, and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).

Connecticut Business and Industry Association

CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, representing companies of all sizes, and a wide range of industries and locations across the state.

According to CBIA President and CEO Joe Brennan, “This upcoming legislative session will be one of the most critical we’ve faced as our economy continues to recover slowly, lagging behind the region and the country. We must elect candidates who understand the urgency facing our state, and will make the decisions necessary to grow the economy, create jobs, and help Connecticut reach its full potential.

“Because of that,” continued Brennan, “we’re pleased to endorse Gail Lavielle as she will continue to work on strengthening Connecticut’s economy. Gail is a responsible legislator, and her sound leadership and commonsense representation in Hartford should be continued.”

Connecticut REALTORS®

Connecticut REALTORS® represents more than 16,000 professionals involved in all aspects of real estate in Connecticut.

We carefully evaluate candidates in determining who may best ensure there is a positive environment for living in or transferring property in Connecticut. Real estate is essential to economic recovery and stability in the state and the nation, and helps to build communities. Thank you for your commitment to serve,” said Debra J. Chamberlain, President of Connecticut REALTORS®, in endorsing Rep. Lavielle’s candidacy.

National Federation of Independent Business

The NFIB is Connecticut’s leading small business association.

In its endorsement letter addressed to Rep. Lavielle, NFIB/CT SAFE Trust Committee Chair Wendy Traub wrote, “Your voting record over the last two legislative sessions on key issues important to small business indicated that you will continue to be committed to the needs of thousands of Main Street small businesses and their employees in Connecticut when you are re-elected to serve in Hartford.”

Commenting on the endorsements, Rep. Lavielle said, “Connecticut’s recovery from the recession is lagging behind the rest of the country, and it’s critical to make it easier to do business here so that both young people and experienced professionals can have a full range of opportunities. One of my highest priorities is reducing businesses’ ongoing structural costs and eliminating burdensome regulations, so that Connecticut can offer businesses an environment where they can thrive and create jobs. I am grateful for the endorsements from CBIA, Connecticut REALTORS®, and NFIB, and their recognition of my commitment to fighting for policies that will make our state friendlier to business.”

Rep. Lavielle, who is now running for her fourth term in the state legislature, was first elected to represent the 143rd district in 2010. She is Ranking Member of the General Assembly’s Education Committee and of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, and a member of the Appropriations and Transportation Committees. She also previously served as Ranking Member of the Commerce Committee. Drawing on her 25 years of management experience in the business world, she has developed or supported many proposals to make Connecticut’s government less costly and more efficient, create a fertile climate for jobs, reduce the tax burden on people, businesses, and municipalities, and make the state more competitive as a place to live, work, raise a family, and retire.
